Thank
you to all who donated raffles, money and their time for the successful
softball tournament that was held August 20, 2005!! It was a great event!
We hope to see you next year!
In the meantime donations are still greatly appreciated,
please donate to the Philip V. Bonvino Medical Fund or Contact
us.
I am a single mother caring for an extraordinary child. He is dependent
for all of his needs, even breathing. He breaths with the assistance of
a respirator, he is fed with a feeding tube, he talks with assistance
of an electronic talking machine and has the biggest smile and brown eyes
most have ever seen. He has an amazing love for life. He fooled the medical
community and is now 17. I had the fight of my life in 2003 when we lost
our private insurance. The Guardian helped to give Philip around the clock
nursing care and help afford him quality of life. Philip's father was
employed by a company that went bankrupt, due to the bankruptcy we lost
our private medical insurance. I wrote day and night to every politician,
local and state to ask for help in my fight to keep our insurance policy
and I got nowhere. I wrote to Oprah, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton and many
others. Philips Medical needs are enormous and the state, Medicaid, feels
Philip is too expensive to keep home and feel he should be placed in a
facility. This would be his demise. I love my son and he belongs home......
His home is not even accessible, but it is what he knows....
In September of 2004, his father abandoned us. We as a couple, have had
our problems over the years but in September he gave up and left. While
Philip, his nurse and myself were in church he packed up. We came home
to a note of departure leaving me to carry all of the household needs
plus Philips medical expenses, mortgage, utilities and everything that
goes along with home owning. He left me with an enormous amount of debt.
Philip has an accessible van that has still yet to be paid off. It is
his mode of transportation. All the bills were in his father's name so
I was unaware of what he had not paid. Now, not only am I fighting to
keep Philip at home where he belongs I am also fighting to keep a roof
over our heads. I cannot work full time, due to Philip's medical status.
Philip is my only child and I cannot give up now.
I even applied for the ABC Extreme Home Makeover. My home is not accessible.
I am desperate. Any help would be greatly appreciated in my plight to
provide for my son and keep him in his home.
Sincerely,
Joy Bonvino
A desperate Mom
